Peer Review Policy

Khalifa: Journal of Islamic Education employs an online submission and peer-review system for all manuscripts. All submissions must be processed through this system and comply with the journal’s peer-review policy.

Khalifa: Journal of Islamic Education is committed to ensuring a fair, objective, transparent, and timely peer-review process in accordance with international best practices in scholarly publishing.

Selection of Papers

The Editorial Board evaluates all submitted manuscripts through an initial screening process (desk review) to ensure:

  • The manuscript fits within the aim and scope of the journal.
  • The topic is relevant to Islamic education studies.
  • The manuscript demonstrates originality and novelty.
  • The manuscript follows the author guidelines and formatting requirements.
  • The manuscript passes plagiarism screening (maximum similarity index as determined by journal policy).

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected without external review.

Selection of Reviewers

The Editorial Board selects reviewers based on:

  • Academic expertise relevant to the manuscript topic.
  • Research experience and publication record in the field.
  • Absence of potential conflicts of interest.

Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.
If necessary, the Editorial Board may appoint additional reviewers (third or subsequent reviewers) to obtain further evaluation.

The Editorial Board takes necessary precautions to avoid the selection of fraudulent or inappropriate peer reviewers.

Review process and transparency

The review process will observe the following factors: aim and scope, novelty, objective, method, scientific impact, conclusion, and references. The remarks of reviewers will be forwarded to the corresponding author for any required actions or feedback. The editorial board will evaluate the reviewer's comments and decide the final decision on the submission based on the reviewer’s recommendation. Further, the final decision is notified to the corresponding author.

The online submission system is used for all correspondence among the Editorial board, author, and reviewers. Khalifa: Journal of Islamic Education also applies Turnitin to screen plagiarism.

Confidentiality

The Khalifa: Journal of Islamic Education Editorial Board is responsible for maintaining the anonymity of all information submitted to the journal as well as all correspondence and discussion with reviewers. The editorial board will also ensure that reviewers and authors are unknown of each other identity (double-blind review method).

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Khalifa: Journal of Islamic Education editorial board will adhere to the Peer Review Policy on author and reviewer disclosure of conflicts of interest. The Khalifa: Journal of Islamic Education Editorial Board will provide assistance and guidance to authors and reviewers across the publishing process.
