History, education, phenomenology, mualaf
The study was to analyze the driving factors of one's entry into Islam (muallaf), and the development of education in those "converted" communities. The study was conducted using qualitative methods with a phenomenology approach in lapela village of the spooky eastern Province of Maluku, Indonesia. The data sources were taken using individual interviews of sixteen informers made up of the people, the people, the customs, the religious leaders, and the people living in the mualaf village. To supplement the interviews, the authors also made four-month live observations at the research site. All data of the interview and thematically analyzed observations are using NVivo 12 software. As a whole, the findings suggest, that one: of the six factors leading to mass conversion: i) (the living, ii) self-interest, iii)) conflict between religions, v) the role of religious leaders, and vi) the teaching of Islam is easily studied and understood by society. Second; Associated with educational phenomena are found four problematic societies studying Islamic religion: i) lack of competence and knowledge of educators, ii) inadequate means and infrastructure, iii), low levels of people's economy and iv) geographic conditions that resulted in limited access to religious activities. The results of this study can be used as the preliminary data for later researchers to examine the problem in different contexts and issues.

Originally a kitab kuning written by Middle Eastern scholars such as Minhaj al-Thalibin by Abu Zakaria al-Nawawi (d667 H/1277 AD), the book of Kanz al-Raghibin by Jalal al-Din al-Mahalli (864 H/1460 M), the book Minhaj al-Thullab and Fath al-Wahhab by Zakariyya al-Ansari (w 926 H/1520 AD) and others. But there are also only titles using Arabic, but in Malay, like the Book of Jurisprudence or Fiqh Sirat al-Mustaqim by al-Raniri (d.1068 AH/1658 AD), the book of tasawuf akhlaqi Siyar alSalikin by Abd Shamad al-Falimbani (d.1832AD), the book of fiqh of Sabil alMuhtadin by Muhammad Arsyad al-Banjari (1812 AD). The three main components of Islamic education (pesantren, kiai and kitab kuning) to this day still exist and very meritorious in the development of Islamic education in all corners of Indonesia.

This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing boarding school education patterns during the covid19 pandemic in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative method of scriptive, with a case study approach that focuses on boarding school Dar El Hikmah Pekanbaru Riau, Indonesia. The source of this research data is the main informant, namely the manager and teacher of pesantren. Data collection is done with structured interviews. The results of this study showed that the pattern of education carried out in boarding school Dar El Hikmah Pekanbaru implemented a limited learning pattern, namely limiting some students to study at home and others doing learning in dormitories. The manager carries out three stages of activities, namely the stage of preparation, implementation and supervision. In the application of formal learning activities are conducted online for students who live at home, using the Google Classroom app, and e-learning. While living in a dormitory, can study offline or face-to-face with teachers, while obeying health protocols. Compliance with the rules of adhere to health protocols is done well by pesantren managers, by putting up appeals through banners, loud speakers, and 24-hour picket officers. In addition, the manager also requires all teachers and students to wear masks, provide hand washing facilities along with handshops, and prepare isolation rooms in anticipation of emergencies. The implication of this research is that pesantren always gets challenged to carry out its role and function as an Islamic educational institution, therefore openness and preparedness in reforming in various aspects of managerial needs to be put forward.

Epistemology, Shifting Paradigm, Thomas S. Kuhn
This article aims to explain the epistemology of Thomas S. Kuhn's concept of Shifting Paradigm (1922-1996), a postmodernist with its philosophical, physical, and historical expertise, and the relevance of his thinking in Islamic science. The research is a qualitative study using the epistemological point of view to analyze. Kuhn’s view on the Shifting Paradigm is analyzed based on the important points in the epistemology: the source and substance of knowledge; the instrument of knowledge; how to acquire knowledge; the theory of truth; and the validation of the truth of knowledge. The study finds that, first, the source and substance of science is the history of science. Second, the instrument of knowledge is the paradigm of science. Third, knowledge is acquired from the shifting process from the pre paradigm, normal science, anomalies, crises, to a new paradigm. Fourth, normal science is the theory of the truth. Fifth, the anomaly becomes the validation of the truth. Kuhn’s thinking of the Shifting Paradigm is relevant to Islamic science because it can be used as a method to explain the transformation of Islamic science. This paper is vital in discussing the relevance of Kuhn’s thinking to Islamic science. Despite many significant numbers of text on Kuhn's thinking, researchers have not found a text that especially discusses on the epistemology of the Kuhn’s conception of Shifting Paradigme and point out its relevance to the transformation of Islamic science.

The research used qualitative method with individual life history approach. All data was collected through a biography of the character, literatures, documents and evidence of object legacy in terms of both written and physical data. Data collection was conducted through the process of collecting, reducting, and presenting the data and was followed by a conclusion. Overall, the result of the study shows that there are six methods applied by Abdullah Ahmad in developing the Islamic education in Minangkabau. The six methods are: i) religion-based education, ii) integration of classical and modern educational models, iii) educational consortium, iv) development of a scientific culture, v) receptiveness to modernization, and vi) informal education. This study also proves that the Abdullah Ahmad’s six methods of education are the prototype of the establishment of today’s various modern educational institutions in West Sumatra. It is no wonder that Minangkabau was formerly known as the land for producing Islamic scholars, intellectuals and powerful politicians such as M. Yamin, Buya Hamka, M. Nasir, and Muhammad Hatta. Based on the historical facts, this study found that Minangkabau scholars, intellectuals and politicians are influenced more or less by the thoughts of Abdullah Ahmad.

Teachers, literacy, learners, the history of Islamic culture
Literacy is one of the most important instruments in advancing a country's education, not even in Indonesia. Research from developed countries has encouraged learners to access, understand, and use things intelligently through activities, such as reading, seeing, listening, writing, and speaking. In the Islamic education facility, even literacy is a duty for any Muslim, as the first Quran verse encourages Muslims to always be studious. It is precisely this research aimed at learning about the efforts of educators, particularly teachers of the history of Islamic culture, in improving literacy among educated people. The study used a qualitative method with a case study design approach. The data source was drawn from the three informants through deep interviews chosen using impressive sampling techniques. All the informers were teachers of the history of Islamic culture. The entire interview was analyzed thematically using nvivo software 12. Research shows the four attempts made by teachers to improve learners' literacy. The four are i) perform cooperative or group learning, ii) perform oral tests, iii) provide school reading or madding, and iv) make a ten-minute reading movement before beginning the lesson. The four attempts of teachers in this study can be set as an example for teachers in the history of Islamic culture, and schools to improve literacy cultures among learners.

Integrated; ICT; teaching and learning; Islamic Study
Teachers of Islamic Study bear a great responsibility to help students have a balanced personality; physics, emotions, and intelligence consistent with the philosophy of Islamic Study and the goal of national Education. The courses of Islamic Study, aqidah, observance, akhlak, fiqih, alquran and history require various strategies, methods, and teaching media. It is considered inappropriate if teachers of Islamic Study spend most of the hours explaining all materials about shalat, hajj, and the history of Islam using ‘chalk and talk’ strategy. Therefore, applying ICT in the classroom such as using computers and internet connection in a teaching and learning process is likely to be an alternative. Some other previous research showed that many Islamic Study teachers were seldom applying ICT during the teaching and learning process. It might be due to the lack of facilities and training, and teachers’ low esteem. This article explains how integrated ICT; computers and internet connections may support the teaching and learning process in the classroom. The explanation is strengthened by some theories, experts’ reviews and previous research findings related to the Islamic Study. The findings of the article are expected to provide references that may be used to integrate ICT in the teaching and learning process.
